ABOUT THE SHOW

‘Where Cormac McCarthy meets Copperhead Road’

Knight sings about busted lives and broken dreams, about hard-won wisdom and easily lost love. A writer said his music is “Where Cormac McCarthy [‘No Country for Old Men,’ ‘The Road’] meets Copperhead Road.” The allusion to both the novelist and the hard-core troubadour Steve Earle both seem apt, especially on his latest recording, Heart of Stone. A former strip-mine reclamation inspector, Knight still lives in the rural coal town of Slaughters, Kentucky (population 200), where he was born and raised. On recordings and live performances, he has forged a reputation for a stark and often ferocious honesty. Visit chrisknight.net.

Songs to check out: “House and 90 Acres,” “The Jealous Kind,” “It Ain’t Easy Being Me”
