ABOUT THE SHOW

Tender chronicles of misery and hopeless descents

Signed to Jimmy LaFave’s Music Road Records, the Austin-based Cleaves is a favorite of Stephen King: “I’m glad I found Slaid Cleaves, because my life would have been poorer without him.” The Chicago Reader said: “Cleaves prefers to write about flawed or unfortunate souls, tenderly chronicling hopeless descents into misery, selfdestruction, and death, often focusing on the small missteps that knock people off the rails." His exquisite 2009 recording, Everything You Love Will Be Taken Away, hit numerous roots and Americana top 10 lists last year. Visit slaid.com.

Songs to check out: “Beautiful Thing,” “Temporary”
